I don’t know about you, but I really love fiction and audio drama podcasts. It’s like a watching a movie, but with your ears. So, listening to a movie, I guess - but way better. And although South Africa’s podcast landscape has grown hugely in the last five years that I’ve been doing this, we haven’t yet ventured into fictionalised podcasts and that wait is over! South Africa’s first audio dram...

In today's episode I have the incredible pleasure of chatting with one of the world's most successful crime fiction writers, Deon Meyer. Meyer's books have enthralled and captivated readers in South Africa for decades and our conversation reveals how that often entails getting closer to real crime than one might think. This interview was first published on Jonathan Ball's Pagecast podcast. To h...

Catch Me A Killer Official Companion Podcast Brought to you by Showmax Episode 7
If you've grown up in a violent abusive environment you are in a state of constant anticipation, flight or fight mode and it's never a case of if it's going to happen it's a case of when it's going to happen, and if you can understand that concept then the outcome of her trial is just.
❤
I don't blame her. Am glad she wasn't harshly punished. Like the judge said, she'd been punished enough.
Q ?
Any update on this case?
Gosh, thank you so much for covering Ewa’s story😭😭😭😭😭😭 We were in the same grade at Summerfields Primary School and we became friends very quickly. She was so friendly and strikingly beautiful with her piercing blue eyes and bleach blonde hair …. I will never forget her. Memories of her kidnapping and her murder haunt me to this day! Thank you for remembering Ewa🙏🏽😭
This is such a sad story, why shoot Johan at all but glad to hear he has survived...they took the car anyway...they deserved going to prison...😢
😂😂😂😂funny pets🌟🌟in True Crimes😂😂😂😂
Bipolar is real..... ask me i know. I struggle with it. Not working anymore, not having finances for medication, confined to my home.... Not having support...... because i feel i can't trust anyone. It is tough.... really tough......
Wow, Kempton Park hospital - I was also born there..... I once looked the hospital up, scary.....
Sick man
Thanks for being the voice of forgotten victims.
Gosh, poor man!
You spoiling us ❤
Nicole, I commend you on the way you present your stories of those that commit crimes and those that are innocent of crimes but are still convicted and sentenced and imprisoned! The Lord has given you a strong discerning spirit as well as great compassion and empathy also for those who became the victims of these crimes, especially the younger victims 😢who were only just starting out in their lives! Please keep going and informing us all who follow and support your program and I pray that God will bless you, protect and Favour you and your work in 2025🎉! Lenora.
@sanctity65 thank you so much, Lenora xxx
I went to school with Ansuné and she was one of the nicest people you could ever meet. I also see that Bertie is once again wanted for fraud (after being released from prison) so it is a no brainer who was the mastermind and who influenced who in this case.
Hey Costa! You are an inspiration to many out there is our broken world! Don’t let anyone tell you otherwise! People listening right now will make life-changing decisions on your testimony right now! Please let us know more about how to follow online! Never play down how Almighty God through His Amazing Grace made a difference in your life! Blessings!
Wonderful explanation that will help many for change in their lives, we as humans are able to b come addicted to many things beside drugs and alcohol!! Thankyou God! With Your Help we can be victorious! Blessings!❤
If Antoine was not the aggressor in this relationship, why didn't she fled from the car that night...?
Mamparaland of south africa..
Big red flag. Nadine already made up her mind regarding Norman. She thinks he did it and that's why her documentary was only one-sided. This is the ideal time to get he's side of the story. Your version is much better.
Just skip thec1st 3:50 seconds.
I pray that the heartbreaking tragedy of precious Sasha-Leigh brought about urgent and extensive changes in how missing child investigations are handled. Not as a casual “Oh, she’ll be found amongst her friends,” or otherwise safe. This is the most serious of horrific crimes. Each and every investigation into a child reported missing must be treated as a likely abduction and action initiated with more than the utmost haste. May little Sasha-Leigh rest in peace, and may her family surrounded by the happiest memories of the time she was with them. 🙏
I do like the profiler Gerard LeBouschagne- I’ve watched a few shows he’s been in. And Micki Pistorious- it’s so strange that they (& you!) don’t have as many subscribers as you all deserve! 😢 There was another channel years ago that had big name FBI profilers on it & it got very few views!! I thought it was an incredible channel! Very fascinating & intellectual- highly in depth yet barely any views!! I can’t fathom why- so painful to see 😪💔🙏 I guess because they weren’t doing their makeup or something silly while talking about these cases… maybe not enough cleavage? People are fickle… I think you do an amazing job! 💐🥰 very respectful, well spoken, in depth & intelligent xx
@LadyandtheScamp4Ever thank you so much 😊 I focus a lot more on the podcast platforms rather than YT because I do audio only so the follower base is bigger on those 😊 appreciate your support!
❤🙏🥰💐☀️🌈🕊️❤️🩹 RIP to the victims 😪💔 I pray they’re having a beautiful life in heaven now watching over their families xoxo thank you for your work 💐🥰
Thank you, This was very, very insightful and interesting. One day or one hour at a time......
I heard 70 people are killed evey day in this country
Brilliant narration, riviting . Your ability to tell a difficult story with that steady, unwavering timbre captivates your listeners. I'm hooked.
@jacquelinemeow5774 thank you so much! 💙💙💙
I am one of your biggest fans and in my books, you the best story teller, you always move me to tears and I am a 💯 crime junkie...THANK YOU.
@lilianhaggland2031 thank you so much 💙 I really appreciate your support.
❤
I follow a lot of crime stories but I have never seen anything like your podcasts. Well researched and mind blowing. You are the best!!!🙌👏
@cn63148 thank you so much 😊 I really appreciate that.
Jy sal beter moet verduidelik vir ons ouermense. Is dit nou soos Springbokradio se sstories?
@elizethompson8627 very similar yes 😊
Very wise advice. Thank you Cousin
Just finished watching the case now on television 📺📺 Eow 😢😢 Baf Man ♂️
Narcissistic and psychopathic man
I know Rus ñ Bietjie in Springs. My parents live down the road. Since the tragic events mentioned above which also reduced me to tears, security is strict now at Rus ñ Bietjie. That however does nothing to appease the pain. Fab pod usual. Blessings always Sue
Thank you Nicole! Most of the cases you cover, I was never aware of...
My gal..is what this crime junky calls you.I listen to 100's of crime channels, you always make me cry...keep it up my gal.
Phenomenal police work by Det. Stroh. I'm heartbroken that the last moments of these poor women's lives were filled with fear. May they rest in peace.
Gosh, I can't imagine the police frustration.
What a horrible trio!
I cried for the victims. This was terribly sad. Thank you Nicole
Why is my earlier comment deleted? I used no profanity and said nothing you didn't say in your final thoughts.
Mine get deleted on RUclips often for no apparent reason… censorship is RUclips’s favorite thing
@nixm9093 I didn't see any other comments by you, so YT must have deleted it. Wasn't me :)
🌻🌼🌼
🌷Your the best!
😊
Hi Nicole, thank you for illustrating your opinion of the articles and information coming from journalists these days. I too have noticed the lack of professionalism, including in the writing and grammar. Some of South Africa's leading publications that have an online platform have decreased exponentially in their fact-checking and spell-checking. It seems like a small thing, but that's just it. The small things become the big things. If we can't eliminate this kind of false reporting and lack of fact checks, then we are digging ourselves into a trench as a nation
This is a disturbing case that reminds me of those psychological horror movies. I have questions regarding her husband the psychiatrist... May the two babies rest in peace 😢
Tienie didn’t want to split assets I think. Him telling Marietta to return was a weakness in him, Ria was spot on, he’s a weak individual. Hence he manipulated Marietta with low iq to do the deed. Hence he too should’ve been investigated. Very poor police work indeed.
Stockholm Syndrome
This case is so disturbing and sad. I feel there is more to this story as it just does not make sense for a mother to act in this way .
